Paul said : “ Our Virtual Reality ( VR ) training is going down incredibly well and it just keeps getting better .
“ When a site has been scanned , we produce a VR replica to within 10mm . We have now introduced an avatar which has loads of knowledge from the input we have put in .”
Tricore is recruiting , the turnover is increasing and more clients are getting on board , having already boasted work with a string of high profile clients such as LNER and the Correll Group .
There is strategic R & D support from the Catapult Programme and the Offshore Wind Growth Partnership , and the team have received three Innovate UK awards in funding related to services centred on AI , data analysis and VR .
Paul said : “ Those government-led awards are very competitive and challenging , but we have been successful because of the value technology brings to our operations .
“ We have just agreed a strategic partnership with Cleveland Fire Brigade Risk Management , too . They have a new facility where they want to use VR as part of a blended learning solution .
“ You can put people virtually into hazardous environments . We can now load any knowledge into the avatar , like 500 pages of tech data sheets , and I could ask the avatar a question and it will deliver answers in any language .”
Tricore specialises in offshore services , whether that is high voltage , low voltage or fibre optic installation . They provide cable testing , quality assurance and control and document control .
The company ’ s LiDAR scanning means records can be accessed remotely .
Tricore has saved companies “ tens of thousands , if not hundreds of thousands of pounds ” because the software can train or induct staff virtually and asset management can be added .
That asset management with Radio Frequency Identification Technology transforms the way every asset of a business is tracked , managed and optimised . Drones are also being used to assist with the scan .
As well as platforms around the world , Tricore has been commissioned by LNER to help with station improvements .
Paul said : “ We have worked with the Tees Valley Combined Authority on Darlington station . We have also scanned Durham , Newcastle , Doncaster and Berwick stations too .
“ We created digital twins to be used for training , stakeholder engagement and project manager support .
“ At Darlington , we took the point cloud data from LNER and created a VR model of the new station . You can walk around it for planning and accessibility , and we have
algorithms that can look for trip hazards , it ’ s really cool stuff .
“ We are working with clients and adding value to their processes . We are now getting enquiries on a weekly basis from huge companies .
“ If a company needs any support with digital twinning , asset management etcetera , there is so much we can do .” Despite the excitement of working on projects around the world , Tricore ’ s Teesside roots means there is huge satisfaction from cementing new partnerships with local employers such as the Cleveland Fire Brigade Risk Management .
That is why Tricore was extremely proud to have won the Small Business of the Year Award at the 2024 Tees Tech Awards . They were also shortlisted for the Innovation Award they won two years ago and technical development manager Prasanna Dinesh was shortlisted for Rising Star .
As well as working with Brunel University in the south , Tricore has links with the universities of Teesside , Sunderland and Newcastle .
Paul said : “ There are a lot of innovative and digital companies basing themselves in the Tees Valley , so for two companies to have come together in their own right by picking up a local award and to be recognised means a lot .
“ We are completing jobs globally but we are keen to stay in this area , recruit in the area and we are now delivering on more and more local projects like at Darlington railway station and the Dogger Bank Wind Farm . To work locally and internationally is fantastic .
“ We are very proud of what we have achieved already because it has been a long journey . The future is exciting .”
