Business ‘ buzz ’ at annual InspiraTees celebration
The winner of the coveted InspiraTees trophy for 2024 insisted the top 30 were all winners – and he was “ humbled ” to be crowned champion for a second time .
Dr Bill Scott OBE – the CEO of Port Clarencebased Wilton Universal Group – pipped Tees Components boss Sharon Lane to top spot in the annual Tees Business poll of the region ’ s most inspiring business leaders .
It ’ s the second time Bill has topped the list , having previously won the award back in 2017 .
More than 90 different people received at least one vote in the 2024 poll , with around 240 different businesspeople placing their votes .
Tees Business turned the annual poll into the InspiraTees event for the first time last year .
And the 2024 top 30 was again revealed at the InspiraTees event on a beautiful summer afternoon in Hardwick Hall ’ s stunning Lakeside Marquee , in front of 150 guests , delivered in association with Moonrise 24hr Recruitment .
Bill , who is also a trustee and patron of The Teesside Charity , was presented with the InspiraTees trophy by Jessica and Keith Gwaringa from sponsors Moonrise .
And he said : “ It ’ s a really interesting event . I said last year , you know when you walk into a room and it just feels right ? There ’ s a great buzz in the room . Everyone is so committed .
“ People come along to the event whether they ’ re in the top 30 or not , or they know someone in it or they just want to be part of the event . I just think it ’ s really important to come along and enjoy it .”
Organised by Tees Business , the InspiraTees event was hosted by magazine founder-directors Martin Walker and Dave Allan , together with nonexecutive director Bob Cuffe MBE .
Guests also heard the inspiring story behind Stockton-based care specialists Moonrise in the words of MD Jessica Gwaringa .
