Standing in the compound at Titan Trailers ’ impressive Middlesbrough factory is a particularly eye-catching vehicle that screams quality .

One of Titan ’ s THDX “ Extreme ” landfill spec trailers , its Ferrari-red paintwork is gleaming and immaculate . Inside , as with all Titan trailers , it ’ s sturdy , hand-built and ready for anything its operator can throw at it .
As with every trailer made by Titan ’ s UK operation , it ’ s been expertly assembled on Teesside from parts shipped over by its Canadian parent company , Titan Trailers Inc .
The UK arm employs 29 people and produces two trailers a week for the aggregate , recycling and waste industries . They ’ re assembled at its modern , 14- bay , 60,000 sq ft assembly factory on the Bolckow Road Industrial Estate – a site that stands on the doorstep of the exciting new Teesworks complex , where modern firms are setting up on land once occupied by the Redcar steelworks .
There ’ s been manufacturing on the site since 2006 , but that stepped up a gear when the new factory was built in 2017 – although the smaller , older one on the same site remains in use too .
A decision to take its sales function inhouse and increase its product range means Titan Trailers UK is confidently gearing up for expansion .
And UK operations manager Alex Adams says that as the Ferrari-red trailer shows , anyone buying a Titan trailer is guaranteed quality , with its trademarked Thinwall double wall aluminium panels a game-changer in the trailer industry – and more evidence of the “ Strength Through Innovation ” ethos .
He said : “ We took the red one to a show and so many people looked at it , thinking ‘ wow ’ – yet it ’ s a landfill trailer designed to have binbags and all sorts thrown into the back of it !
“ But when it or others leave here , thanks to our paintshop lads , who have more than 100 years of experience between them , the paint finish is as good as anything you ’ ll find in the automotive industry , and the assembly is first-class .
“ But there ’ s an awful lot of pride in our products . We actively encourage customers to come to this site because when they see the hand-built nature of our trailers , they appreciate it and understand why it costs a bit more .
“ We have skilled people doing a first-class job in putting those trailers together – that ’ s why you pay a premium for it .”
That “ premium ” sees the full Titan product range come in between £ 80,000 to £ 100,000 . But as customer sales manager Cliff Holdsworth points out , you get guaranteed quality and longevity .
