Ground-breaking training facility offers realtime experience to wind sector technicians
Hartlepool-based CFB Risk Management Services , the commercial trading arm of Cleveland Fire Brigade , has unveiled a revolutionary training facility designed to enhance the skills and safety of wind sector technicians .
Tees Valley mayor Ben Houchen attended the launch along with representatives from the police commissioner ’ s office , Equinor , EDF , PD Ports and other high-profile organisations from the region .
The highlight of the event was the inauguration of the CFB ’ s training turbine , a one-of-a-kind construction equipped with a unique fire simulator to provide realistic training scenarios .
The turbine stands out as an innovative training tool for the wind energy sector .
Standing 20-metres high , the structure replicates the features of an actual turbine , allowing for comprehensive , hands-on training .
Rebecca Storey , marketing and client relations manager at CFB RMS , said : “ We don ’ t know of any other Global Wind Organisation-accredited training providers who have access to a training turbine such as ours .
“ For us , having a simulator that can be set on fire and used in training courses offers as close to a real-life experience as possible , within a controlled and safe environment .”
The establishment of the turbine comes at a crucial time for the wind sector , which is expected to require the training of approximately 460,000 technicians for both onshore and offshore operations soon .
