TEES BUSINESS AWARDS 2024

NIGHT OF JOY AS SECOND ANNUAL AWARDS PROVE A SMASH-HIT

That winning feeling – the category winners on stage with their trophies .

Long-established Middlesbrough firm Lionweld Kennedy and Bob Makin of games developers Behaviour Interactive UK were the big winners at the second annual Tees Business Awards .

Hardwick Hall ’ s Coleman Suite was a 380-seat sell-out for an inspiring night of celebration , which you can read about in the following pages of this special supplement .
A Tees Business event with global games developer Double Eleven as headline sponsor , the 2024 Tees Business Awards saw company and individual awards presented over 12 categories .
Although category sponsors had chosen the initial shortlists , a panel of sponsors had independently voted for the winners , meaning even the category sponsors had no idea who had won until they opened the golden envelopes on stage .
Hosted by TV presenter Pam Royle DL and former Northern Echo editor Peter Barron MBE DL , it was an event that shone the brightest of lights on our region ’ s leading businesses – and the inspiring people behind them .
Jos Visser , site director of petrochemicals giant SABIC UK Petrochemicals , was keynote speaker , while just under £ 2,000 was raised for locally based national charity CEO Sleepout .
The night culminated in Double Eleven director Kimberley Turner parading the gleaming Tees Business of the Year trophy into the packed room before revealing Lionweld Kennedy as the big winner to kick-off joyous scenes of celebration .
Tees Business director Martin Walker said : “ Our thanks to Double Eleven and the sponsors of the various categories , drinks , finalist films and event programme – without them , this celebration simply couldn ’ t happen .
“ Our thanks , too , to our small team of experts who made the event what it was , including Chris , Vicky and Millie at Tees Business , ace writer Dave Robson , our audiovisual experts Storm , designer Sarah Carlton of KINSHIP , printers Quoin , filmmakers Canvas , photographer Tom Banks and all the team at Hardwick Hall .
“ But most of all , thanks to all the finalists and winners , who should all take a bow .”
Speaking to guests at the event , Tees
Business director Dave Allan said : “ Tonight isn ’ t just about the winners and the finalists – it ’ s about celebrating our region , our modern-day Infant Hercules – a region that will continue to thrive , revive , regenerate and rise again . It ’ s a region that will always punch well above its weight .
“ And why ? Because – and I truly believe this – Teessiders will always be men of iron , and women of steel – and , for me , the greatest people in the world .”
