As a Tynesider ( please keep reading ), I commute to Teesside every day , having worked here for seven years now . During that time I ’ ve seen significant investment in the region , which I believe has helped contribute towards the success of those organisations that are based here .
Teesside certainly feels like an area that is celebrating much success at present , with several organisations bidding for and winning significant contracts that bring work and career opportunities to the region , whether that ’ s existing organisations or new ones establishing a base here , with the positive impact this has on local supply chains .
This could not be demonstrated any more appropriately than this year ’ s VelociTees award finalists and winners ( see pages 138-147 ), celebrating those small , SME and large businesses showing year-on-year growth in job creation and turnover .
Katmex was one of this year ’ s finalists for turnover as a result of a significant increase in requirements from our customer base following the coronavirus pandemic . Currently producing profiled , machined and fabricated parts for the construction machine industry , we are now looking to diversify our business in providing similar parts to new sectors .
Congratulations to all those who were shortlisted for this year ’ s VelociTees awards , and I wish continued success for all other local businesses .
