The property ladder can be a precarious place – but for Katherine Eaton and her team at Punch Robson Solicitors , helping Teessiders find a firm footing is hugely rewarding .

Formerly in central Middlesbrough but now with offices in Ingleby Barwick and in Coulby Newham ’ s Parkway Centre – both chosen to be at the heart of local communities – Punch Robson provides a range of legal services , just as it has since 1877 .
From employment , divorce and family law to wills and probate , commercial property and many other services , it has most legalities covered .
But for head of residential conveyancing Katherine and the residential property team , there ’ s nothing like helping people through the pitfalls and joys of property matters .
She told Tees Business : “ We like seeing people getting their foot on the property ladder , getting a new house and being so excited about it . Or if we pull something out of the bag when difficult circumstances arise .
“ Buying and selling a house can be stressful , so if we can reduce that stress , it ’ s all part of what we do – and I ’ m very fortunate to have dedicated staff . We ’ ve always pulled together when times have been tough – during Covid , for example .”
Katherine ’ s speaking in a pleasant side room at the firm ’ s Coulby Newham office – an office where minds have been put at rest and even friendships formed .
She said : “ I have clients who ’ ve come to me all the time I ’ ve been here . I see them regularly enough that I feel like I know them – I know if they have dogs , I know if they ’ re retired or where they work , things they do . You get that sense of community from working for them .
“ That ’ s our business ethos – we are a local firm serving local people for their everyday needs as well as their exceptional needs . And I guess we ’ re the bread and butter of the firm – we ’ re probably the most common contact for clients . Buying houses or making wills , they ’ re the most common contacts for using a solicitor – fundamental parts of life .”
In her 20 years with the firm – she joined after her English degree and postgraduate law diploma – Katherine
