WINNER
CORRELL ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING ( Skelton )
A firm that helps energise the offshore wind sector bagged a VelociTees award after a whirlwind year of rapid growth .
Correll Electrical Engineering is a leading high-voltage services provider to the offshore wind industry .
And after its workforce leapt from 72 to 140 , it proved a worthy winner of the VelociTees Job Creation award for SMEs .
Delighted Correll group HR manager Lesley Hanson said a “ whirlwind ” year of rapid growth meant the firm “ needed to bring some more talent in to help us flourish even more ”.
She added : “ The year wasn ’ t without its challenges but because we ’ ve had so many new people and new talent , it ’ s such a great atmosphere – there ’ s a great vibe to the place .
“ It ’ s all about potential , where we can go forward , so the award is just icing on the cake .”
Lesley said it wasn ’ t only people to work on offshore installations that had been brought in , but support staff too , including project managers , cost controllers and others working in finance and procurement .
She added : “ We do have work here in the UK and Europe , but some of it is in Taiwan and the US , so it is pretty much a global business . And we ’ ve built the infrastructure to move fast and be agile with it , so we ’ ve capitalised on that , and it ’ s worked in our favour .”
A tech-led utility provider , Everflow serves UK businesses with environmentally friendly water supply and waste collection services . Since its 2015 launch , Everflow has become the UK ’ s fastest-growing business utilities provider thanks to its main mission – to “ make utilities simple ”. In recent years , it has developed software that makes selling water and waste collection services quick and easy for brokers , encouraging them to switch more of their energy customers .
It also makes billing simpler and better for the end customer , while reducing the human errors that result in incorrect bills , dissatisfied customers and switch-aways . Such software , Everflow says , allows it to offer competitive rates and market-leading customer service .
FINALIST
RADICAL FORGE ( Middlesbrough )
Since forming in 2017 , games developer Radical Forge has worked on world-class games and offers a range of services . Its studio has also focused on several core areas : increasing the number of projects it commits to , creating several management and senior roles to help the business scale up and evaluating the “ key hires ” it needed to make .
It also assessed the capabilities of its current staff to ensure the overall team had the correct skillset to enable the business to work on a variety of different projects simultaneously . That approach saw full-time staffing levels rise to 61 in the latest financial year , compared to 24 the previous year .
