Budding tennis stars are the latest to benefit from a Tees insurance broker ’ s policy of serving the community with a “ people-first ” approach .
Middlesbrough-based Attis Insurance Brokers says teamwork is one of the keys to success in both the business and sporting worlds .
The firm , which began in May 2021 but boasts decades of insurance experience , is also a firm believer in supporting local sports clubs and events .
And now the six-to-11-year-old “ Tennis Stars ” youngsters at David Lloyd Teesside on Tees Barrage Way , Stockton , think Attis is ace after it served up sponsorship for T-shirts and hoodies .
Attis director Jonathan Willett explained : “ I ’ m a longstanding member at David Lloyd ’ s and thought it would be good to help budding young tennis players in the region .
“ It was an opportunity to support the tennis players of the future by backing a quality brand , so in September , when they returned from the summer break , they each got a branded T-shirt and hoodie .”
Anyone driving to David Lloyd will also see the Attis name , with a roundabout sponsored on the road leading to the Tees Barrage .
However , Attis is no stranger to getting behind the Teesside sports scene .
Whether it ’ s a corporate annual golf day or sponsorship of Middlesbrough RUFC , Attis is always keen to help the sports clubs and events that many of its clients

will support .
It also aligns itself to sporting excellence , having been involved with Elite Events and the likes of Olympic multi-gold medallist rower Sir Steve Redgrave , cycling legend Sir Bradley Wiggins CBE , champion jockey Sir Anthony ( AP ) McCoy OBE and , on February 20 , 2024 , an evening with former England rugby star Mike Tindall MBE at Yarm ’ s Princess Alexandra Auditorium .
However , while sporting excellence is an attraction , the most important teamwork for Jonathan and fellow director Emma involves the Attis Insurance work family .
Eager to foster a sense of belonging and pride at working for Attis , they ’ re determined to treat their 20-strong team well .
Each staff member gets 30 days ’ holiday and recently , everyone was invited along to an all-expenses paid weekend away .
It was a celebration of work success , with targets having been met – but it was also a way of nurturing an already strong sense of togetherness .
Emma explained : “ For us the weekend away was invaluable , building the team camaraderie and goodwill .
“ It ’ s recognition of the team ’ s hard work , enabling some enjoyable ‘ down time ’ together . We believe in the ‘ work family ’ and we focus on building the right culture .
“ It takes effort to get the right people , all pulling in the right direction with the desired work ethic , and we ’ re very proud we ’ ve achieved that .
“ We recognise that having the

best team , in terms of experience , qualifications , work ethos and putting the client first , gives the customer the service we want to deliver .”
Jonathan added : “ Sick days , for example , are very low because people enjoy coming to work – there ’ s a great team ethos .
“ But in the same way as we try to encourage staff loyalty , we aim to encourage client loyalty by looking after them throughout our relationship – from inception of the policy , day-to-day queries and when dealing with claims , which can sometimes involve traumatic situations .”
However , never wanting to rest on its laurels , Attis is currently looking to expand its team .
Emma explained : “ We ’ re looking for loyal , hardworking , experienced and qualified people who like working for an independent insurance broker that really does care about its team .”
