Teesside emergency response consultancy service has marked winning two multi-year and multimillion-pound contracts by launching its largest recruitment push yet .
Cleveland Fire Brigade Risk Management Services ( CFB RMS ) – a Community Interest Company ( CIC ) also focused on helping firms meet their environmental , social and governance obligations – is looking at new hires who will reach double figures early in the new year .
Steve Bruce , the managing director , is looking to appoint a new head of operations as well as technical advisors , site protection officers , site protection managers , emergency capability managers , a business development sales assistant and an office administrator .
CFB RMS has decades of experience consulting with high-hazard organisations around the world , in sectors such as the oil and gas industry , chemical plants , nuclear , renewables and any high-hazard workplace , to help them mitigate their health and safety risks .

But the firm , based next door to Cleveland Fire Brigade ’ s headquarters in Hartlepool , has always remained close to its roots .
Steve Bruce said : “ This is the biggest recruitment drive since we were founded in 2011 and coincides with the significant contracts we have recently won in the Teesside area .
“ Teesside and the North-East is our core business , where our fundamental base is . We have other projects all over the world , but the core is definitely Teesside .”
The firm recently sent a team of experts to analyse numerous fire stations in Abu Dhabi . Other areas of work include lowand high-tier COMAH Sites and wind farm projects .
But what sets CFB RMS apart is that , as a CIC , it gives back 65 per cent of its profits to local good causes .
Steve said : “ These two new contracts will also create a considerable amount of money that we will donate .
“ The more money we generate as a business , the more money that goes into good causes .
“ And if companies bring us in as a service provider , it looks good on them because our motive is not about just making money , and that gives us an edge over our rivals .”
CFB RMS , a separate business to Cleveland Fire Authority , recently donated £ 15,000 to Coatham House – a safe house in Redcar for vulnerable teenagers , which has made a huge difference to local people .
The company also recently donated
£ 40,000 for cadet training at Cleveland Fire Brigade , which meant the cadets achieved a nationally-recognised qualification .
Steve said : “ The chairman and board of directors feel the direction of the business should be predominantly about giving back to the community . The directors are local businesspeople who have been successful and one of the CIC ’ s main objectives is to support good causes and local enterprises .
“ Take Coatham House , which ended up being refurbished from the money we donated . That massively impacts the young teenagers ’ lives who stay there , improving their life skills .”
The commercial side of CFB RMS provides on-site or off-site emergency responders , integrated asset protection , emergency response plans , industry training including incident command training , first aid and breathing apparatus training , as well as consultancy services .
The growing consultancy can provide , within minutes , a rapid response team of highly qualified first responders to any incidents on site , such as a fire or medical emergency .
“ We are going to launch a new wind turbine training tower at Cleveland Fire Brigade ’ s headquarters that can be used for fire training ,” said Steve , a former site manager on the Kashagan Project who worked in Kazakhstan for 16 years .
“ This training tower will be the first of its kind in the country at a fire brigade ’ s headquarters . It ’ s essentially a wind turbine without the blades , that we can set fire to at the top .”
