Together we can help those who need it most
One in three Teesside children are living below the breadline . With figures rising due to the current cost-of-living crisis , there are many organisations in the Tees region trying to alter this reality and provide the power of opportunity through the Teesside Charity .
The charity ’ s key function is to financially aid charities , community groups , schools and initiatives based in the region that provide support to those who find themselves at a disadvantage in our society .
The generosity and commitment of the charity ’ s patrons , Infant Hercules Charity Club members and Centurions help to support the most disadvantaged Teessiders through regular donations .
But being a part of the charity isn ’ t just about making a donation . It means you ’ re at the heart of making Teesside a better place to live , work and do business .
Trustee and patron Alisdair Beveridge , CEO of the Build Directory , speaks about the importance of supporting the Teesside Charity .
Alisdair says : “ It ’ s difficult to describe what it means to be involved in the charity in a concise manner because it means a whole host of things . It encompasses so much meaning .
“ The Teesside Charity is a vehicle to do good and make a difference . Without the charity , Teesside would have a big hole in it .
“ It meant I could help a range of charities and no one was left out .
When asked what it means to be a patron of the Teesside Charity , Alisdair says : “ The Teesside Charity to me is essential and I personally think I am blessed to have come across it .
“ It has added so much value and fulfilment to my life , both personally and professionally . It has given me a platform to do good and it selfishly makes me feel better about myself .
“ I ’ ve had the chance to connect with incredible people and form amazing friendships that I wouldn ’ t have otherwise made .
“ The Teesside Charity has created a bond among all of its supporters and beneficiaries . It wouldn ’ t be possible without the friendships and connections that are made . As they say , the act of giving is contagious and can inspire others to do the same .
“ When I was a kid there was a thing called a ‘ Tripper ’. You could buy one ticket for the bus or you could buy a Tripper , which meant you could get on any bus .
“ Being given the opportunity to support the Teesside Charity was like getting a Tripper . It meant I could help a range of charities and no one was left out . It put my conscience at ease and I have never looked back .
“ Every charity holds equal worth , so it ’ s hard to choose who you should give your money to as a business .
“ And , the way I see it , instead of backing numerous charities separately , why not unite and back the Teesside Charity as they support them all ?”
Together , Tees businesses can make an even greater impact and uplift those who need it most .
