It ’ s celebration time at Steel River Consultants ( SRC ) as the ambitious Teesside firm achieves yet another year of sustained growth . Founded by managing director Graham Tyerman in 2010 , SRC will mark its 13th anniversary this summer .

And that special occasion in July comes just a matter of weeks after the firm ’ s sister company , Steel River Cost & Project Management ( SRCPM ), completed six hugely successful years in May .
Last year saw SRCPM smash through the 100 projects barrier and since that momentous landmark was achieved , the figure has already increased to 117 .
“ From a standing start six years ago , SRCPM has continued to grow year on year . The team has grown , and we continue to recruit ambitious staff across the board . Financially , we ’ ve surpassed the business plans ,” says justifiably proud director Gary Marshall .
Providing a bespoke service to the construction industry and major companies in the renewable energy sector , SRCPM has recently been appointed to support upcoming projects in the education , residential and commercial sectors . The firm is also proud to be working with Teesworks and Teesside International Airport on the construction of Unit D , to the Southside Phase 1A Development . “ We have worked on both local and national projects , from Kent to Wales and from Somerset to Scotland ,” says Gary .
“ The overall goal is to grow SRCPM not only in terms of company size , but within new and emerging sectors ,” he continues . “ We also want to continue to grow geographically with the view to offering cost and project management services from our existing offices in Glasgow and the Midlands , and also a proposed new office in the Newcastle area in the near future .
“ SRCPM has introduced new clients to SRC and vice-versa ,” he says . “ Both sides of the business do not work exclusively with each other , but when it comes to providing a whole-of-market service to a client , we have the capability to do so .”
The overall landscape of the North-East is in a state of constant evolution and the region is one of the biggest players in the offshore renewable energy sector , with large-scale developments and facilities to support the industry being built throughout the region .
As a progressive , cost-effective health and safety consultant , Stockton-based SRC has been on hand to play a key role in one of the region ’ s most exciting and important growth areas , as MD Graham
Tyerman explains .
“ What ’ s been crucial during this period has been to develop and support the growth within this industry and while we started as a two-person business in 2010 , we are now one of the largest independent safety consultancies within the renewable sector .
“ One of SRC ’ s strengths ,” he adds , “ has been the ability to support a client through every stage of the process on large-scale developments , which ensures a consistent approach to project HSE requirements and develops a positive safety culture for the duration of the project .
“ With the client base SRC has established over the last 13 years , we want to introduce the added-value services that SRCPM can provide to these clients .
“ Naturally , progressive firms like SRC and SRCPM are interesting and rewarding places to work and employees are thriving in such surroundings . We ’ re able to provide our employees with opportunities across a wide range of projects and sectors . This provides them with the experience and skill set to develop and prosper , and the business can benefit as well , which leads to further opportunities . We ’ re looking forward to the next anniversary . And the next . And the next …”
