Historic companies keep the wheels of industry turning after four decades together
With a combined history of more than 200 years , two companies with a presence on Teesside are celebrating 40 years of a collaborative relationship that has enabled them to adapt to changing markets and keep their foot on the gas .
Baines Jewitt Chartered Accountants and Heinzmann UK started working together in 1984 , although their company stories can be traced back to the turn of the century and beyond .
One of Teesside ’ s largest firms of chartered accountants , business advisers and tax experts , Baines Jewitt in its current form took shape in 2004 , after the merger of two firms with long and proud histories – Baines Goldston , which began in 1923 , and Jewitts , which started in 1907 .
The origins of Heinzmann , which began as a specialist in the development of control technology for internal combustion engines , can be traced back to 1897 , when engineer Max Joseph Heinzmann laid foundations for the company in Radebeul , near Dresden , Germany .
World leader Today , the Heinzmann Group is one of the world ’ s leading system providers for motor management , control technology and electric drives , with production operations in Europe , Asia and Australia , as well as representation in more than 40 countries .
Heinzmann established its presence in the UK when it opened Heinzmann UK in 1984 . Today , the UK-based Heinzmann operations , which specialise in gas turbine controls , mechanical governors and actuators , industrial controls and highpressure fuel pipes , employ 65 people across its three sites , including one in Middlesbrough .
Roles include skilled machinists , fitters , wiremen , systems test engineers , software engineers , research and development ( R & D ) engineers , applications and service engineers , plus management functions of finance , sales and operations .
