CORE Systems Software is revolutionising construction projects around the world .
Paul Bass ’ s CORE , based in Darlington ’ s Business Central , is ensuring projects are managed and delivered using its specialised contract management software and 3D virtual scanning services to help build , manage and deliver construction projects in the most cost-effective and sustainable way possible .
Paul , CORE ’ s founder and director , has spent the last 20 years working on large infrastructure and civil engineering projects such as the Transpennine Route Upgrade .
He has also worked with companies such as Amey , Kier , Network Rail , Volker and JN Bentley and is now focused on playing a leading role in taking the construction industry into a more sustainable and efficient future .
CORE ’ s specialised solutions enable the progress of construction projects to be tracked at every stage by a user-friendly contract management solution combined with VR-enabled digital twins , to address the three common challenges of the construction industry .
These are late delivery , overspending and not meeting the client ’ s requirements . Be it an oil refinery in Texas or a wind farm on Teesside , CORE ’ s technology enables collaborative working and real-time updates for clients and teams , without the need for them to travel .

CORE ’ s innovative platform , incorporating facilities such as automated dashboards , activity feeds , risk and change management , site diaries and improved site-to-office transfer , streamlines the whole construction management process .
Paul said : “ We have provided local company WOODSmith Construction with an all-encompassing solution that is delivering results by streamlining data , informing decisions , driving contractual compliance and agreement and increasing productivity , delivery and reducing resource wastage .
“ WOODSmith has also embraced our 3D scanning service , which is integrated with CORE , and the results are impressive .”
Providing digital twinning solutions is one of CORE ’ s more recent services . For a quick insight into what the technology looks like , CORE scanned Teesside International Airport ’ s SkyBar , which can be viewed on the airport ’ s website , using the latest 3D scanning technology .
It has also delivered a significant number of scans in the Tees Valley but also overseas , including locations such as France and United States .
Paul said : “ The 3D site-scanning , digital-twinning and VR-training services are incredible . For example , if you were building Darlington Railway Station , we could scan that and a person anywhere in the world could walk around that station site and see the progress as if they were really there .

“ This year we have already scanned numerous offshore wind farm projects for Trident TS , which has reduced the need to send multiple engineers . The VR scans of these projects are now being used in the UK for training inductions and collaboration .
“ We are working closely with Trident and really embracing technology . You can basically immerse yourself on site .
“ Companies are very excited at the benefits because it helps them meet sustainability goals , reduce costs and it ’ s safer .”
CORE won the Innovation Award at the Tees Tech Awards – Paul gives credit to the success of its growth to the fantastic regional support from the TVCA , DigitalCity and Teesside University , its use of local suppliers such as Sapere and marketing company DUCO Digital , and forward-thinking early adopters of CORE such as WOODSmith .
Paul also recently attended the National Sustainability Summit in Ireland as part of a trade mission to showcase CORE .
He added : “ There is plenty more to come , too . We have a collaborative research project with Teesside University and are looking into some really innovative solutions . It ’ s great news , not just for us , but the Tees Valley and the construction industry as a whole .”
