Busy beginning to year for UKSE as businesses seek finance and workspace
Loan helps Lee add to impressive contract wins

The first months of 2023 have proved to be busy ones for UKSE in the northern region .

The team at the Tata Steel business-support subsidiary has recently provided investment to support the growth of Tees-based businesses in sectors including cable services , safety passports and engineering .
It has also helped a number of new tenants settle into its Innovation Centres in Hartlepool and Redcar .
As well as welcoming a new member to the team , UKSE completed a sixfigure refurbishment to provide new and updated facilities at its Innovation Centre in Hartlepool .
UKSE also sponsored the Small Business Award at the inaugural VelociTees event , which was won by games firm Radical Forge .
UKSE regional manager Sarah Thorpe ( pictured ) said : “ It ’ s been heartening to see that , despite the difficulties of recent times for all businesses , 2023 has started so well .
“ Companies are showing confidence and coming to us with strong projects and business plans to secure finance and expand workspace .”
A five-figure unsecured loan is helping a cabling installation company that was set up in UKSE ’ s Innovation Centre at Hartlepool less than a year ago to increase the number of impressive contracts it has already won .
Lee Douglas decided to use his 30 years of experience in the sector to set up Hartlepool Cable Services .
HCS has already worked alongside major electrical engineering contractors on projects from the HS2 railway and Wilton International to hospitals , data centres and a 37-storey office development in the city of London .
Peter Taylor at UKSE was introduced to HCS by Mike McKenna of Inspire Financial Management .
Their support was praised by Lee , who said : “ I couldn ’ t have achieved this without them .”

Sharon Turley began settling into her new role with UKSE as an administrator at the Innovation Centre in Redcar in 2023 , helping to support around 50 business tenants . Providing high-quality workspace is an important part of UKSE ’ s provision , alongside finance .

Jack Adams , who turned his hobby of collecting football shirts into a thriving business attracting customers from around the globe , now has the space and facilities he needs at UKSE ’ s Innovation Centre in Hartlepool .
He has joined around 50 growing businesses operating in sectors from construction , law and design to chemicals , printing and healthcare .
Investment boosts growth plans
UKSE provided a six-figure growth capital investment to support Middlesbrough-based Engineering Installations Teesside as it was acquired by LSM Associates with ambitious plans for growth .
UKSE was part of a support team that also included Clive Owen LLP , Weightmans , Parker Barrass and Endeavour Law .
