As a relatively new Teessider , or at least a returning one , I don ’ t think there has ever been a better time to be on Teesside than right now .
In a year that has brought challenges to so many , challenges that look set to continue into the next year too , it is great to have an opportunity to reflect on the vast great and good coming out of this region – it gives balance and hope .
For me , this edition of Tees Business is an issue for celebration . You can read about the incredible award winners in special supplements for both the Best New Tees Business Awards – of which Etc . was proud to be a category sponsor – and the Tees Businesswomen Awards .
Our region really is a driving force for innovation and women in business , and these
awards demonstrate just how much talent there is here .
In addition to teaching and skills , education plays a vital role in supporting learners with setting and raising their ambitions , and to signpost to relatable role models – and the newly-crowned Tees Businesswoman of the Year , Double Eleven ’ s Kimberley Turner , is a perfect example of a role model . It ’ s fantastic to be able to read about the journey of Double Eleven from being a business that started in a loft to becoming a £ 46m turnover giant ! If that isn ’ t inspiration , I am not sure what is .
Shining a light on the success that comes out of Teesside is essential to providing motivation to do more , and Tees Business is a great platform for just that .
