FIVE-STAR SHOW !
FIVE-STAR SHOW !
Almost 450 attend glitzy fifth annual Tees Businesswomen Awards event

OUR WINNERS ’ ROLL CALL

Double Eleven ’ s Kimberley Turner , haircare specialist Additional Lengths and women ’ s football pioneer Marrie Wieczorek were among the big winners at the fifth annual Tees Businesswomen Awards .

It was a night of tension , excitement , pride and joy as the region ’ s best businesswomen were publicly recognised for their remarkable contributions to the Tees economy .
The Tees Businesswomen Awards 2022 , organised by Tees Business in association with headline sponsors Northern Skills Group , saw nearly 450 people gather at a glittering – and emotional – ceremony in Hardwick Hall ’ s Grand Marquee .
The winners of 12 awards were revealed at the event , which also featured a keynote speech from Cleveland Police assistant chief constable – and TV ’ s ‘ Hunted ’ host – Lisa Theaker .
And it was truly a night to remember for Kimberley Turner , haircare firm Additional Lengths and football coach Marrie Wieczorek , who picked up the evening ’ s blue riband prizes .
Kimberley , commercial and finance director of Middlesbrough-based games firm Double Eleven , was crowned Businesswoman of the Year in a category sponsored by Teesside University .
It was quite a triumph for Kimberley who , say colleagues , is the key to how the firm runs so smoothly and in a way that mirrors the “ everyone is equal ” policy she operates by .
Chartered accountant Kimberley pipped CEO Sleepout boss Bianca Robinson , the Verve Group ’ s Cathi Harrison and Racz Group CEO Laura Tarran to the prize .
The Business of the Year title , sponsored by Punch Robson Solicitors , went to Stockton-based haircare firm Additional Lengths .
Started in 2003 in a room at the home of MD Victoria Lynch ’ s parents , it has grown into a multi-million-pound business with a store , salon , 20,000-sq ft HQ and a slick online presence .
Additional Lengths took the title ahead of Stocktonbased accountancy firm AbacusBean and a third Stockton business , safety induction specialists Intasite .
And it was a “ back of the net ” moment for former Middlesbrough Ladies FC manager and England international footballer Marrie Wieczorek , who received the Jane Turner Award for Outstanding Contribution in a surprise presentation .
Presenting the award , Middlesbrough College chief executive Zoe Lewis told how Marrie was a trailblazer for women ’ s football , long before the summer ’ s success for the England Lionesses , calling her “ a true pioneer not just of women ’ s football but for all women everywhere .”
But even though there were 12 winners , it was about every finalist and nominee too .
As Tees Business director Dave Allan told the event : “ These awards aren ’ t just about winning – they ’ re about celebrating the success of our brilliant women .”
