Kirsten Donkin of PD Ports looks back on awards sponsored by the Teesport owner and operator
Congratulations to everyone who was shortlisted or won a category at the second annual Best New Tees Business Awards . What a great example to set for the next generation – strength , resilience , positivity and passion .
I was staggered by the passion and commitment that shone through every category . Reviewing the submissions filled me with an incredible sense of pride as a Teessider . These awards should send out a loud message to all budding entrepreneurs that if you have a dream and believe in what you do , anything is possible – you can make it happen .
PD Ports is proud to play a vital role in the local economy . For generations , we have attracted investment to the Tees Valley , created well-paid jobs for local people and supported the communities that surround and depend upon us .
We recognise the importance of collaboration and trusted partnerships , and this underpins our commitment in supporting and celebrating these awards .
At the inaugural awards ceremony in 2021 , I spoke about how in awe I was of the resilience shown by our new businesses and the determination to grow and innovate in the post-Covid world we had been thrust in to .
None of us could ever have anticipated that a year later businesses , and society , would be facing an entirely new catalogue of challenges , from the costof-living crisis to rising inflation , forcing us to rethink the way we live and conduct business .
The Best New Tees Business Awards are a fantastic platform to recognise , reward and celebrate the value these businesses bring to the Tees Valley .
