As someone closely connected to our local business community , it is a great honour to be introducing the latest edition of Tees Business magazine .

There is no denying that businesses have a lot on their plates right now . Not only have owners and employees had to contend with the fallout of coronavirus , but there is also plenty keeping people awake at night , whether rising energy costs , recession fears or the Ukraine war .
Yet , against this backdrop , I still see people ’ s passion to succeed shine through . I firmly believe that the resilience and adaptability of the Tees Valley people will see many businesses not only survive , but thrive .
Representing a firm of chartered accountants and business advisers , some of the most frequent questions I get asked are :
how can I get my new venture off the ground ? How can I help my firm survive in the current climate ? And how can I take my business to the next level ?
Firstly , I would advise you not to bury your head in the sand . It is extremely important to talk through your worries with a professional adviser or trusted friend . It also pays to plan ahead .
Now more than ever is also the time to “ talk up ” the Tees Valley and support each other . For example , why not buy local wherever possible , whether getting your car serviced , shopping for insurance or dining out at one of the amazing “ best restaurants ” featured in this edition of Tees Business ?
I look forward to seeing you around , whether for business advice , on the social circuit or cheering on the mighty Boro !
