Village people needed to inspire Tees girls
It takes a village to raise a child is a well-known expression , so at a time when we hear talk of a growing north-south divide between the attainment of young people , do we as a business community need to step up to raise the aspirations of our young people ?
I think we do . We , the village , need to show our young people what opportunities are out there for them and we need to inspire them to be ambitious .
At the Power of Women campaign , we follow a simple maxim that seeing is believing . To believe something is possible you need to see it done .
For that reason , we tell stories of women with careers in our region , but we need more . It is not a great ask . If you ’ re a woman – whether you ’ re at the start of your career , the end or somewhere in between – your story may resonate with a young person and set them on the path to a great future .
All you have to do is complete a simple form and we will do the rest .
In 20 minutes you could create a lightbulb moment to inspire a Teesside girl . So contact our marketing officer Nieve Morrison via Nieve @ powerofwomen . org . uk and get that form .
And if you have done this and want to do more to support our campaign , please do attend our events or consider sponsoring a school to benefit from our Primary Ambassador programme .
There is so much to do , but together we can raise a village of young people believing in their dreams , their region and their future .
