MIND MATTERS Thirteen have health and wellbeing built-in

I

’ m honoured to have been asked to write the foreword for this edition of Tees Business , with a heavy focus on the region ’ s digital-tech sector following the success of the Tees Tech Awards 2021 .
The awards play a crucial role in celebrating the success of our ever-growing Tees Valley cluster , so to those shortlisted , and those who won , I ’ d firstly like to say congratulations !
The hard work and determination from all businesses that applied is genuinely inspirational , and this opportunity to provide some form of recognition for their work has been fantastic .
However , as “ digital ” continues to evolve and transcend across sectors , and its definition becomes more ambiguous , the awards and this follow-on opportunity will play a vital role in :
- Highlighting the sector ’ s potential , and the impact it can have on the local economy
- Challenging historical mindsets of what can be achieved in the Tees Valley
- And , most importantly for me , inspiring the future generation
This sector is growing exponentially so it ’ s important we embrace its potential and consider how we can all play a role in future development .
From those in the public sector making decisions on how to support future growth , to those in professional services who have long offered their time and support , and anyone in between who can shout loudly about the sector , now is the perfect time to shine a light on what is constantly described as a Tees Valley “ hidden gem ”.
I hope you enjoy reading about some of the success stories in this issue – and , of course , the features on the many other high-flying Tees sectors and businesses . I ’ m sure they will inspire you as much as they inspire me .
