WASTE FIRM SNAPPED UP BY COMPANY WITH ‘ SHARED GOALS ’

Teesside waste management firm says its acquisition by Urbaser was a deal which “ ticked all the boxes ”.
J & B Recycling of Hartlepool has been acquired by Cheltenham-based Urbaser , which provides waste treatment and municipal services to a range of local authorities , businesses and the public across the UK .
Founded in 1998 , J & B Recycling boasts a significant portfolio of local authority contracts , as well as more than 1,600 trade contracts servicing nearly 700 commercial customers within the region .
Acquiring the Hartlepool-based firm provides Urbaser with a network of four materials recycling and processing facilities , managing more than 180,000 tonnes per annum . The firm ’ s forecasted revenue for the year ended March 31 2021 was around £ 20m .
The deal follows the acquisition by
Urbaser of five waste management contracts from Amey , which was announced earlier this year .
J & B Recycling chief executive officer Vikki Jackson-Smith said that when it came to looking for a partner to support the business in its next chapter , Urbaser “ ticked all the boxes .”
Urbaser Ltd MD Javier Peiro said : “ The acquisition of such an experienced and wellestablished operation within the North-East represents a significant step in our ambition for growth within the UK marketplace .”
Urbaser Ltd has delivered environmental services across the world since 1990 .
Its parent company is the third-largest environmental services provider in Europe and operates in the USA , Asia , North Africa and South America , while in the UK , Urbaser provides environmental services to 14 local authorities and 4.5m people .
Three apprentices are working towards potential careers with TMD Friction and will learn while they earn .
The global automotive manufacturer , which has its only UK production facility at Oakesway Trading Estate , Hartlepool , has been making parts for the passenger car aftermarket since 1974 and now employs 449 people in the North- East .
The recruitment of apprentices is a key element of the company ’ s succession planning strategy and through its close working partnership with Hartlepool College of Further Education , it regularly looks to bring fresh new talent into the business .

A leading business centre in Hartlepool is welcoming new companies through its doors as the town shows its determination not to let a pandemic stand in the way of success .
In recent weeks , the Innovation Centre on the Queens Meadow Business Park , run by UKSE , the Tata Steel businesssupport subsidiary , has seen several changes .
They include a well-established firm of solicitors opening a fourth office to meet growing demand , a training company that started in the centre moving to its own premises with a 20-strong team and a busy construction company trebling its existing workshop space .
Two dozen apprentices will regularly hit the A19 in distinctive royal blue uniforms to further their development at a Tees college .
The number is a further indication of a successful partnership between Wearside-based press-formed automotive components manufacturer Unipres and Hartlepool College of Further Education that entered its fifth year this September .
The apprentices are expected at Unipres ’ Sunderland site for 7.15am every day to travel down to Hartlepool College to start work an hour later .
Every Unipres employee wears a royal blue uniform with the Unipres logo , including apprentices who spend the day at Hartlepool College .
