W
ith such a vibrant business community
within the Tees Valley area the
relationship between businesses and local
charities is growing year on year.
There are many reasons that companies
choose to support a local charity and all have
the same end result which is that both the
business and the charity benefit on so many
levels.
Companies approach charities for many
reasons. It could be that after a personal
experience with a family member, friend
or work colleague who has accessed the
charity’s services and the result of the help
and services they have received has left a
huge impact on them. They want to give
something back as a thank you.
Many of the companies recognise that
although raising money for a charity is the
primary aim, the benefits to the business are
much more far reaching.
Zoe's Place Baby Hospice, based in
Normanby, Middlesbrough, continues to
thrive despite having to find more than £1.2m
every year.

Zoe’s Place general manager Mark
Guidery, who hosted the cheque
presentation ceremony in Normanby, said:
“For successful business people to get
together to support the area’s hospices in
this way is just fantastic.
“We can promise them every penny Zoe’s
Place gets will be used prudently because
we haven’t got money to waste.
“Raising the money we need is proving
harder than ever but we are absolutely
committed to continuing to provide the best
possible end-of-life care for those who need
it.
“We can only say a heart-felt thank you to
the Philanthropic Foundation and all those
individuals and businesses who support it.
”
The other charities to benefit from
the Foundation's recent donations were
Hartlepool Hospice (donated by Erimus
Insurance), Teesside Hospice (CPD Bodies)
and Butterwick Hospice (Castlegate
Shopping Centre).
Businesses can join the growing number
of companies in Tees Valley that stand tall
and proud knowing that they are making a
