On December 19th, X Factor USA’s Season 3 officially ended with its extravagant finale after those many months of shows, but it turns out we actually witnessed something much larger. Fox and the show’s other production companies have decided to cancel the series.
The original X Factor has been a complete hit in the UK for nine years now. Despite this, the American version of this music reality show never really caught on, even though Simon Cowell decided to switch sides and go on the American version. All three of this show’s seasons have had reasonably low ratings, with this last season’s rankings especially low.
While the X Factor may have an enormous audience of committed fans, the show does have major competition, which includes The Voice and American Idol.
I've had a fantastic time over the last 12 years, both on The X Factor and American Idol," Simon said in a statement. "And apart from being lucky enough to find some amazing talent on the shows, I have always had an incredible welcome from the American public (most of the time!)."
Simon Cowell will always be remembered for his great feedback and honesty, not to mention his sarcastic sense of humour on the X Factor!
