LETTER:

Hello, my name is Daniel, I’m from Cali, I have tried a lot of times to write you, but in this case, it’s very, very important to me. The thing is that I’m 16 years old, and I have a big passion for the planes, actually, I thing that the planes are all my life, all what I like.

In this moment I have to take a big decision in my life, because 2 months ago, I graduated from the school, so its time to me to take the decision of what to study. I have talked this with my parents before, but they told me, that they aren’t going to help me in the aviation career, because they thing that I won’t find a job, and that also is a very expensive and useless career. You know… that’s how the old people think.

I heard all what they told me, but I still thinking that I only want to study aviation, so I want to ask you if maybe you can give me some steps or instructions that allow me to study aviation, I mean, good universities, and also payment possibilities to make me this process easier to me.

PD: you agree with my decision or with my parent’s decision? Thank you very much and I love your magazine.

ANSWER:

Hi Daniel! We are very excited to see that you like our magazine, for us is very important the opinion of our readers, you are the ones that make us to exist. Also is very exciting to us to see that you, with 16 years old, have this opinion about the aviation, this is a big goal for us.

Talking about your letter, I understand that you are in a very difficult moment, and that normally the opinion of the parents is very important, but in this case, in the moment when the teenager has to choose the career,

it’s a decision that only he has to take, because he is the one that is going to work and that is going to spend all his life in this job. I´m not telling you to be rude with your parents, but to explain them In a good way, that its only your decision, and if maybe they decide to don’t pay your career, you have to search the way to pay your career, as working part-time or something like this.

Getting into what you asked me, in Colombia there are some universities to study aviation, some of them in Bogota and some others in Medellin.

I recommend you the ones of Medellin, principally the “AAA” and “Los Halcones”.

They have good teachers, good planes, and they offer you a bridge to find a job in “ADA” or some other regional airlines.

Also, if you don’t find a part-time job or another way to pay your career you have the option of the “isetex” that is a company that give you the money for your career, and one year after your graduation, you start paying them.

I wish this to help you, continue reading our magazine and if you need something more, you can write us.

Greetings, Jose Julian R.
