Save the Environment!

The third R is reusing, which is a very basic thing to do. Instead of throwing your old clothes out, why not let your brother or sister use them? And if doesn’t fit your siblings, you could always donate them to charity, in this way you’re helping the poor and saving the environment. You can also use reusable water bottles instead of disposable plastic ones, this is beneficial to the environment as plastic is toxic non-degradable substance. Another way is to reuse the jam or pickle jars, you can use them to store spices, or to save up some money. You can be creative with them! Who knows, they might come in handy for a school project!

Another way to save the environment is to save electricity. Electricity requires a lot of energy and resources, and by turning off the light whenever you go out or closing the faucet while brushing your teeth is going to make a great difference as it is going to help in sustaining our natural resources. In addition, you could have alternatives for your method of transportation: Use a bicycle to go to the grocery, or make students ride them to school, it will be a form of exercise and it will not cause pollution. Another alternative is to use public transport or carpooling, instead of every individual driving to the same destination, they can form a group to travel in one car. Moreover, every household should have one family car instead of small luxury ones, in this way gas could be saved and the level of pollution will be reduced as there will only be one car instead of three or more.

Furthermore, make sure not to throw your electronics because they are extremely hazardous. E-waste contains mercury and it’s considered the most dangerous and toxic compound, especially when it reacts with other chemicals to form methyl mercury (e-waste). So, make sure that you elongate the lifespan of your electronics, take care of them, do not throw them out when they become slow, you can always format and update them to become better. However, if you do need another fancy device, you can always donate the one you have to charity, or you can recycle them.

So these are the basic rules for you to take care of planet Earth. This might be hard to implement, but once you start doing it, it will soon be a regular chore as it will be part of your lifestyle and then you won’t even feel it! You can even make your family or friends do it with you so you motivate each other in the process. And don’t forget to teach kids on how to recycle, reuse and reduce and to make them aware of the environmental problems so they can also take part in reducing pollution and global warming. After all, they are the next generation who are going to be responsible for protecting our planet.
