A wildfire is an uncontrolled fire often occurring in wild land areas, but it can also consume houses and agricultural resources. They are not obvious and are subtle at first, but they grow and spread quickly and burn trees and homes.

Humans cause ninety percent of wildfires. They result from camps left unattended, the burning of debris, negligently discarded cigarettes and intentional acts of arson. Lightening or lava causes the remaining ten percent.

Protect your forests!

Tips to prevent wildfires:

1. Never leave a campfire unattended

2. When camping, take care when using and fueling lanterns, stoves, and heaters.

3. Do not discard cigarettes, matches, and smoking materials from moving vehicles, or anywhere on park grounds

4. Avoid backyard burning in windy conditions, and keep a shovel, water, and fire retardant nearby to keep fires in check
