Winter Woes
Poem by: Lily S, staff

Snowy hills with splotches of green,
Beautiful lakes glisten and gleam.
This may seem like a beautiful scene,
Made up of something out of a dream…
But have you ever thought of the lonely?
How winter may be a woeful time of year,
And how the holidays bring them no cheer,
Have you ever thought of the poor?
How they have nothing to sleep on except for the floor,
How the winds of famine break down their door.
Have you ever thought of those hovered over by death,
Waiting for them to breathe their last breath?
I won’t lie to you and say there isn’t a sad thing in sight,
I won’t tell you that no one cries at night,
But I will ask you to walk around with an aura of light.
