After 12 years working at Dub ’ s Dread Golf Course , six as general manager , Alec Otting announced that August 11 would be his final day at Dub ’ s Dread , saying , “ I have accepted a new role outside of the golf world and will begin my new journey .”
“ The decision was tough ,” said Otting , “ but I know it will pay off down the road for myself and my family . Bittersweet is the only word I can use to describe how I am feeling . When I was 16 years old , I was offered my first official job as a cart kid here , and I never looked back . To have a small impact on such a special place with so much history is something I will always cherish . I made so many incredible relationships with our staff , patrons , vendors , and tournament committees . The memories from here as I walk away will stay close in my heart .”
Otting continued , “ The PEOPLE are what makes Dub ’ s Dread , and I will always believe that . With that said , I am so excited to introduce Trey Herman as the new General Manager and Blaine Smith as the new Head Golf Professional . They have earned their position , and I have no doubt that they are the right PEOPLE for the job . Trey and Blaine will continue to provide the best customer experience for years to come . I look forward to seeing them excel and watching them put their own spin on the future of Dub ’ s Dread .”
Otting ’ s passion for the golf business began in 2011 as a member of the cart staff . He was promoted to pro shop staff in 2012 , then to assistant GM in 2015 , and promoted once again to GM in November of 2017 . to carry on the traditions of good management instilled in him by former GM Jimmy Angelotti . “ Jimmy instilled customer service values in me as well as anyone could have ,” said Otting . “ He would always say , ‘ People , People , People .’ Customer service remained my number one priority , working to operate Dub ’ s by always creating an environment where the customer feels welcome and where they desire to return . I ’ m confident Trey will carry on with those same values and build on them .”
