Tom Watson helps a golfer with putting tips during a walking 9-hole round of golf.
An eight-time major champion, Watson founded Watson Links in 2021 to: 1) help kids learn on-course etiquette, be creative, and become passionate players; 2) provide a meaningful way for vetted adult golfers to pay it forward and join a growing community of champions who drive fun and create lifetime golfers; and 3) introduce kids to a sport that can be enjoyed by players of all levels and backgrounds.
Watson’ s outlining of the Watson Links at a major First Tee conference gave early emphasis to the program’ s start.“ We’ re not exclusive First Tee partners,” he says.“ Other organizations are coordinating with Watson Links; it’ s exciting to see a lot of interest in coordinating their programs with ours. It’ s a step towards what I hope will be a lifetime journey with a sport which has meant the world to me. I expect lots of life lessons, laughter, and memories to be made among new players and their mentors.”
