Even when Smithville Lake is not in play , there ’ s still water , like on the par-3 15th . It is not a particularly long hole , but with bunkers left of the green , if the flag is front right ( over the pond / lake ), it can be a little daunting from the tee box . Even when there is no water on a hole , like on the par-5 18th , a long dogleg right with an uphill approach to the green , there are still no gimmes at The Posse . Come with your shootin ’ irons blazin ’ and a bag full of bullets ( golf balls ) – you might need them !
“ The rolling terrain and the many holes along the lake demand shot accuracy and paying attention to detail ,” said Hall . When asking what ’ s the key to scoring well at The Posse ? Hall says , “ The fairways have many different lies , and golfers must prepare to hit many different types of shots to the undulating greens . Golfers also must pay attention to the placement of their approach shots to the greens in order to give them a reasonable chance at birdie and par putts .” In other words , don ’ t always shoot bullets at the pins .
If you have a long day on The Posse course and think your old clubs are to blame , Hall is ready to help inside Paradise Pointe ’ s awardwinning pro shop . Hall ’ s staff can custom fit you for the right set of sticks ( shootin ’ irons ) from all the major club manufacturers . The pro shop features a large selection of all the latest golf equipment ,

accessories , and apparel . However , whether you are using the latest high-tech equipment or Mom and Dad ’ s old set from the garage , The Posse is truly a lake golf destination right here in Kansas City .
“ The Posse is a must-play because of the layout and superb condition of not only the golf course but the greens ,” Hall said , “ and Smithville Lake adds great beauty and difficulty to the course .” And , if you ’ re still up for more golf — tee it up for 18 more on the Outlaw course . Play 36 on two different 18-hole courses without ever leaving the property .
So , saddle up , Pardner , and take your posse to Paradise Pointe . Straight shooter or not , The Posse is a “ can ’ t miss !”

Did you know ? Both The Outlaw and The Posse courses were named in honor of notorious Missouri outlaw Jesse James ! James was a native of the area , and historic records indicate he and his Gang actually frequented the area where the courses sit from the mid-1800s until April 3 , 1882 , when James was assassinated in St . Joseph .
