The course features immaculate Zoysia fairways , tees , and approaches . Shoal Creek ’ s rolling terrain and tree-lined fairways lead to large undulating Penn G-2 Bentgrass greens . The roughs are a bluegrass / rye mix framed by strategically placed native prairie grasses and wild flowers . A superbly designed layout , the course is a 6,950-yard par 71 and offers amazing features , elevation changes , and liberal landing areas .
Shoal Creek offers GPS in carts , which gives golfers the exact yardage to the flagstick as well as the contour of the green . Begin your round by warming up on the spacious driving range , which includes a 12,000-square-foot Zoysia grass teeing area , and a 6,000-squarefoot practice putting green .

Perhaps one of the most memorable golf holes in all of Kansas City is the 17th at Shoal Creek . The 17th is a 198-yard ( from the tips ) par 3 . From an elevated teeing ground , your downhill tee shot must carry over a deep ravine and rock wall in front of the green . A truly great signature hole . Fun to play !

SMITHVILLE , MO — Golf all day at Paradise Pointe Golf Complex where you will find the Northlands ’ only 36-hole golf complex . The original course , the “ Posse ,” opened in 1982 and is located on the shores of Smithville Lake . Its excellent layout features water hazards and beautiful views of the lake . An 18-hole , par 72 with Bluegrass fairways and Bentgrass greens , it plays 6,663 yards from the back tees .
The “ Outlaw ” course , designed by wellknown Architect Craig Schreiner , is a par 72 course that opened in 1994 . It features 7,016 yards of plush Zoysia fairways , and large Bentgrass greens , with many of its holes featuring beautiful lake views . One of KC area ’ s superior public courses with many holes that could be considered as signature holes .
Records show that the James Gang actually lived and frequented this area long before there was Smithville Lake — hence the course names .
A great golf facility with excellent course conditions and superior customer service . Paradise Pointe offers one of the best practice areas within the KC area — a large driving range .
General Manager Eddie Hall inventories a large selection of the latest name-brand golf equipment and an extended supply of apparel . The clubhouse offers a sports bar , appropriately named , the “ Hideout ,” preserving the course ’ s Jesse James theme .

Lee ’ s Summit , MO — The Unity Village Golf Club opened to public play in 2015 , after being a private course since it was founded in 1921 . It ’ s nearly impossible to find a more storied history of a Kansas City area golf course than this unique 9-hole course . Unity Village with its landmark tower is located just off 350 Hwy and Colbern Road in a picturesque setting only 15 miles southeast of downtown Kansas City .
During 2018 , the historic clubhouse was renovated to include a large pro shop and snack bar . A new outdoor deck area was built outside the clubhouse to accommodate up to 48 people — complete with umbrella tables and chairs , a bar rail , and rail-bench seating . The deck and clubhouse expansion are great for golf tournaments . In 2016 , the course opened a driving range with both artificial turf and grass teeing areas .
Where the golf course is concerned , from the blue tees , the course has one par 3 and one par 5 and the rest are par 4s . A par 34 course playing 2,937 yards from the blue tees and 2,452 yards from the red tees . It is not a long course ; however , the shortest hole for men or women is a 185-yard par 3 . Nearly devoid of ball marks , the well-maintained greens are beautiful , fast , and fun to play ! It ’ s like golfing in a nature park .
Affordable public weekday green fee rates ( walking ) range from $ 17 for 9 holes and $ 23 for 18 holes . With cart for 9 holes are $ 27 per person and $ 38 per person for 18 .
