Two Local Teenagers Earn Honors at the 2020 Missouri Girls Golf State Championship

Lee ’ s Summit golfer , Lilli Stallings , a junior at Summit

Christian Academy , placed 3rd overall during the 2020 Missouri Girls Golf State Class 1 Championship at Paradise Pointe Golf Club in Smithville , MO . The twoday event with 74 golfers began cold and windy on October 19 , but Stallings enjoyed playing and played well , placing 1st that day . Day two dawned bleak with drizzle . Stalling ended with third in the individual event . Overall , it was a great experience to learn to compete with her peers .
Stallings , age 16 , who started playing golf at nine years old , has played in Hawaii , Orlando , Key West , and various other courses around the country , but her home course is Stone Canyon Golf Club , Blue Spring , MO . She planned to attend a golf training camp at St . Andrews in Scotland during 2020 , but due to COVID-19 , the camp was rescheduled for 2021 . Hopefully !
Stallings gained a lot of confidence playing in the State Championship and looks forward to competing next year .
On October 20 , at the par-73 Dalhousie Golf Club in Cape Girardeau , Megan Propeck , a senior at Notre Dame de Sion , won the individual title in Class 4 Missouri State High School Girls Golf Championship . Propeck shot an incredible 67 in the tournament , which was reduced to a single round by rain . It is her third state title in four seasons .

Propeck started playing golf at five and started competing at 10 years old and has won many tournaments over those years . She was the The 2019 Kenneth Smith Award winner ( photo on left ).
Propeck fulfills one of her dreams in 2021 by playing college golf and hopes to compete on the LPGA Tour one day . She recently signed to play golf for the University of Virginia and will officially become a Virginia Cavalier in the fall of 2021 .
