Family and friends of KC golf legend Miriam Burns( Horn) Tyson gathered around her headstone for a May 30th dedication ceremony of the marker they paid for and is finally placed at her grave site, 74 years after her death in 1951. At the conclusion of the graveside ceremony, Don Kuehn said,“ I, my colleagues on the Kansas City Golf Hall of Fame Committee, and all who admire the accomplishments of one of our great champions, want to thank everyone who made Miss Miriam’ s headstone marker possible. And special thanks to the Tyson family, Keith, Ashley, and Kenny, who made the trip from Florida to be here. You know, we had made up our minds that we were going to dedicate this headstone after Bruce Mathews discovered that Miriam was here, in an unmarked location.
“ On behalf of the officers, staff, and Board of Directors of Central Links Golf( previously the KCGA), I want to say how much we appreciate the work Bruce has done to‘ close the loop’ on this chapter of Miriam’ s story. Thank you, Bruce!”
