to place and stop on the green. This results in the ability to get the ball closer to the pin and the opportunity for a shorter putt. Hopefully, that leads to lower scores. The Mizuno JPX925 irons are an excellent choice for the mid-to-high handicapper and retail for $ 150 per club.
Callaway Elyte Irons
TaylorMade Qi Irons
TaylorMade can’ t be overlooked in the iron category, especially this year with its Qi irons. TaylorMade says one of the biggest benefits of the Qi irons is how straight they are. Golfers battle off-line shots that go right and left, so the opportunity to have a straighter shot is very appealing. TaylorMade achieves this straighter shot pattern by integrating design features that include organic face geometries, Cap Back Design, and its Speed Pocket. All these features work together to give the player that straighter shot. The Qi irons retail at $ 142.85 per club.
Callaway is introducing its new Elyte irons for 2025. The new Elyte Speed Frame construction allows Callaway to offer a firmer body and a more flexible clubface, giving us faster ball speeds off the face. This design also allows for better sound and feel during impact. Callaway has also put a lot of work into improving the sole of the club. Work has gone into all three sections of the sole. The leading and trailing edges are designed to better interact with the turf on entry and exit, while the mid-section offers more forgiveness from different lies. This is proving to be a huge hit with our players going through our club fittings, and I expect that success to continue as we do more and more fittings this spring. The Callaway Elyte irons retail at $ 150 per club.
PING G440 Irons
PING Golf brings us its new G440 irons, and they are an excellent choice in the Game Improvement category. These irons feature lower CG and a higher Moment of Inertia( MOI). This comes from PING thinning the clubface and placing the weight lower and farther back in the iron. As we have discussed in previous articles, the benefit of being able to do this increases the MOI. The MOI is the measure of the twisting of the clubhead. Having a higher MOI means that the club doesn’ t twist as much at impact, and that increases forgiveness and accuracy. The PING G440 irons retail at $ 157 per club.
