The Man with the Gun
The world has always hated the fact that our technology is being used against us. The most common representation of this is guns. They were mainly made to serve the purpose of hunting. Sure, many will believe that hunting is wrong, but it keeps us alive. When the gun was abused and used to kill each other, it became known as the most used and most powerful weapon (besides the bomb) known to us. We have experienced this many times, but we don’t know for sure who to blame.
We could blame our ancestors who made the first weapon to hunt, or we could blame us today. Many say that things are only dangerous in the hands of the beholder, but what if there was more to this. Is the mad man mad because of his past or did the weapon give him feelings of power. Simply wielding a gun can make the holder feel empowered. Who would you feel had more power, the king of the universe (theoretically of course) or the one holding the gun to his head?
Do we even have control over these temptations of power? The fact is that we don’t. We are all wired the same in the head, which is where this topic is targeted towards. Many would argue, but it isn’t the brain that makes us different, it’s our experiences in life. We process things the same way everyone else does, which is the reason psychologists can help people. It’s because they have gone deep into the mind of one person and it could apply to everyone.
With that in mind, does it make our society the reason we fall under the power of the weapon? Of course not. The society revolves around the people and the wealth or items. So both impact how we think, but which gives more? The question keeps coming up of which provides more influence. For the true answer, we have to dive into history. We have to think about the one who first killed. Of course there is no real evidence, but a look into psychology will reveal a deep want of being like that person. So, when the first kill occurred, another was persuaded to react the same way.
But did the first person to kill actually kill? Most likely, he/she was overwhelmed by the power of the weapon. So truly, anything with a good purpose will eventually become evil due to its overwhelming strength (even a rock).
