Naz go on telling about Seferihisar: “Seferihisar is the first cittaslow town of Izmir in Turkey, also surrounded by the historical treasures and green nature. Seferihisar makes you feel the Aegean spirit closer. Seferihisar is the first slow city of Turkey, is within the borders of Izmir in the Aegean Region of Turkey. The oldest settlement in Seferihisar district is Teos, the city of Carians, and known to be founded in 2000 BC by the Cretans, who were fleeing from the Achaeans. Its famous mandarin, large resources of solar, geothermal and wind power, and historical treasures are among the strong sides of the slow city Seferihisar. Olives, grapes and citruses are grown in the district. The reason why Seferihisar was not affected by the unplanned urbanization in Aegean and Mediterranean coasts in recent years is that it is surrounded by the archaeological sites and military areas. They are all hungry so they eat stuffed bread, stuffed artichoke, sweet tarhana, mantı with chickpeas and tangerine dessert. After they eat these delicious foods now they are full. Azra and Betül give some important information about Seferihisar: "Seferihisar is the first slow city of Turkey. It has become the member of Cittaslow on November 28, 2009, which is the international association of the cities where life is easy. Cittaslow philosophy, which proves that development is possible even by respecting the nature, protecting the local values, tradesmen and cuisine, has become a road map for Seferihisar.
