Oregon is home to the biggest automotive players , so my industry ’ s key companies are here locally . From software providers to dealership groups , Oregon is a big part of what happens in Detroit . Personally , I ’ m here because of the beauty , the weather , the wine , the waves , and because the people are very genuine . I like that living in the second-largest metropolitan area in the state does not prevent me from unplugging and getting close to nature if I want to walk , hike , or bike . The region ’ s tech ecosystem is underrated and surprisingly powerful . And until you spread the word , Eugene / Springfield is one of the best-kept secrets south of Portland and west of Silicone Valley . There ’ s a large variety of tech companies here , and there seem to be many opportunities to network that open the doors to new learning opportunities and interactions with like-minded individuals . It feels easy to find events that talk about points of interest without feeling exclusive to specific expertise or background . In the future , I hope to see more diversity in Oregon tech . I ’ d love to see the space expand with the voices and the minds of people of all backgrounds .
