THE RMS FANTASY
FOOTBALL SUPER
LEAGUE FINALE
Written By Matt Blundell
For those of you who aren’t aware there has been a
contest happening throughout RMS, a battle of wits that
has caused more drama than an episode of EastEnders!
This is the story of The RMS Super League. A fantasy
football league that has had 24 employees chasing a
dream, hoping to be crowned the winner and get their
hands on the all-important trophy.
Whispers have been heard throughout the office and tales of secret
meetings in the field have been rife. The banter has been non-stop
but now the football season is over the final scores have been
totalled up and the trophy has been handed out. Did we know what
we were getting ourselves in for 38 weeks ago? Probably not, but
would any of us change it? Definitely not!
With the start of the football season looming The RMS Super
League was born and slowly started to fill up. With people from
every department taking part, bragging rights were definitely up for
grabs and it seemed that the Operations Department would take
them with James Twidale and his Huntingdon Heros moving into
an early lead.
Week after week people scored points, with some teams moving
up and down the table with the grace of a drunk stumbling his way
home from the pub. The biggest “stumbler” award has to go to
Kester Roberts and his Ya Mum team who remained in the bottom
three until game week 32! Playing under the name Mike Basset (I
assume to hide his embarrassment) his team struggled massively
until a change of management caused a sudden increase in points
and saw them finally finish in 20th place.
There can only be one winner though and half way through the
season James Twidale still seemed in a strong position to finish top
but at Christmas that all changed……
With Scott Butler and his Cupid Stunts hitting the ground running
in the new year he ate up the points. Seemingly catching James
each week until in game week 27 he grabbed the top spot with both
hands and didn’t let go. So here he is, our champion and reigning
king of fantasy football Mr Scott Butler.
