Teachology Summer 2014 Edition | Page 2

teachology A Message From Lisa Ciardulli I’ve been at Santa Fe just over a year now, and as the saying goes, “we’ve come a long way, baby!” Canvas is now old hat for many faculty, but we continue to encourage new faculty to use Canvas to supplement on-campus classes. We have designed and delivered several new faculty development workshops for classroom and online teaching, from creating rubrics to creating videos; we also focuson incorporating new technologies into your teaching from Google to Canvas apps (like badges, for example!). Just since January 2014, we’ve filled 156 seats in 32 workshops. We are thrilled that so many faculty members are taking time out of their busy schedules to learn new things from our staff and each other. In this volume of the Teachology magazine, you’ll read about how some of your colleagues are using what they’ve learned. It’s an awesome thing to be a part of, and we greatly 2 appreciate the faculty who are making big and little changes in their classes for the betterment of their students. And the future just gets better. We are looking forward to rolling out our second cohort of the Certificate of Classroom Teaching and Learning (CCTL) during summer B (more details in this magazine); and this fall we’ll be adding a second certificate program: Certificate of Online Teaching and Learning (COTL)! If you have any requests for a specific workshop, be sure and let us know. You probably aren’t the only one who would like to learn more about that topic. If there’s a new technology you’d like to try in your classrooms, we can probably help. We hope to see you soon in one of the workshops or in the Canvas Open Lab. Or just top by to say hi, share a story, or give us a suggestion about how we can better serve your needs. Enjoy the rest of your summer! -Lisa
