teachology CCTL Spring Graduates—(front) Cari Jimenez and Sheila Lucas; Rear— Debbie Blair and Linda Cirulli-Burton. What are some ways you have utilized the strategies and concepts in the CCTL for your own teaching practice? I learned a lot about cooperative learning and how to implement problem-based learning in my lesson plan. I learned about the conceptual framework PIES and how to effectively create cooperative groups in the classroom. We learned that group work does not make an activity automatically cooperative learning. One of my main goals is to connect the target language (Spanish) that we are learning in the classroom with "real life experiences using the language." I was able to use the concepts I learned about problem- based learning to create new lessons in which the students needed to solve a problem and use specific vocabulary and phrases in a real life situation outside the classroom. I would like to implement more of the strategies and concepts I learned in the CCTL, but I know that it is more effective to incorporate changes slowly every semester.
