This pyramid represents levels of thinking. In a lesson, you want to push students towards higher levels of thinking as frequently as possible. One way in which this can be achieved, is through questioning.

In the pages that follow, you'll be given a series of suggested question stems for each of the sections of the pyramid.

Although the higher order skills (Evaluation, Synthesis and Analysis) are important, the other elements are vital too and may provide the foundation for more advanced explorations in a lesson.

Questions should be planned in advance of an activity so that you feel more confident with where you're taking students' learning.
