guru ! While Jack is a lover of business and numbers , one would be surprised to know that he is often the person to visit when inquiring about a new television series to watch or how to nurse a plant back to health . The Sproules and their apartment were also featured in a New York Post article about tiny homes , as they reside in a 320-square-foot apartment .
Jack is a man of honor and integrity who served in the United States army during The Vietnam War . For many years , Ms . Sanchez ’ s second grade class would honor him every Veterans Day and thank him for his service .
Jack , you have dedicated yourself to Saint David ’ s for the last 21 years and have left a profound impact on everyone at Saint David ’ s School . Many generations of boys will have the privilege of walking through the halls that you helped procure . Saint David ’ s is a better place because of your efforts .
You exemplify what it truly means to be a good man . Congratulations on your many years of service . Your dedication and diligence will be sorely missed , but we hope that your next adventure with Linda will be filled with endless joy . •

The following is excerpted from Dr . O ’ Halloran ’ s letter announcing Jack Sproule ’ s retirement :
Saint David ’ s has benefited from Jack ’ s financial acumen , steadfast loyalty , and sound judgment . He brought the aggregate of his life experiences , as a Veteran of the Vietnam War , a public accountant , and in his previous finance work for Manhattan School of Music , Sarah Lawrence College , Yeshiva University , and the Franciscan Friars to bear serving two headmasters and this school expertly and wisely .
Jack ’ s many achievements at Saint David ’ s include overseeing an eight-fold increase in our endowment - from $ 10 million to over $ 80 million , playing a primary role in our massive “ All That We Can Be ” expansion into Graham House , advising during our recent acquisition of 15 East 88th Street , and , as the first professional financial executive hired by the school , cultivating a highfunctioning , cohesive business office . When asked what he has most treasured about his time at Saint David ’ s , Jack cites being a member of its leadership team , the joyful energy and creativity of our boys , and the school ’ s many traditions — Lessons and Carols ( I ’ ll never forget his reading a lesson one year dressed in his family kilt accompanied by full Scottish regalia ) and Graduation , in particular .
“ I ’ m lucky to have ’ saved ’ Saint David ’ s for my last job ,” Jack said to me recently . Saint David ’ s has been most fortunate as well , Jack . You have brought wisdom and hearty humor to many a long meeting , and have demonstrated a deep dedication to the school ’ s financial well-being . It has been a joy . Jack greatly deserves , and we most ardently wish him , a long , happy , and fulfilling retirement .
