"I’ve always experimented and pushed the boundaries of all art media. I’ve found that clay has tremendous flexibility for transferring and expressing emotion. There is a lot of interrelationships between my ideas and my making processes. The constant conflict between the smooth porcelain and rough textures of the stoneware clays play an important role."

"My process is unique, it involves a traditional Japanese technique called ‘Nerikomi’. I stain porcelain various colours and tones, mix in conflicting grogged stoneware and form small pattern blocks. I then inlay slices of these patterned blocks into the walls of thin slip cast porcelain vessels. The pattern slices go all the way through the walls, so you can see it on the inside and outside of each vessel. The Nerikomi blocks are purposefully layered and complex, often inspired by our natural Australian landscapes. I also relay my day-to-day experiences and family stories through my clay processes and techniques – the aesthetic results are a reflection of my mood at the time. I’ve had many people state that there is chaos and calm in each of my works."

Marta Donaghey, Head Curator of the Contemporary Ceramics Centre, London selected Larissa's work as an emerging artist in the Clay Gulgong Festival hosted by Mansfield Ceramics in New South Wales. 'Night will form its own path' was included in the World Stage exhibition, and an image of her piece will be published in the international ceramics magazine, Ceramics Art+Perception. Larissa lists this as a career highlight.

Another high point was when The Darling at The Star Gold Coast commissioned 32 of Larissa's ceramic works for display in the new six-star, boutique luxury hotel.

The July issue of Home Beautiful magazine also features Larissa's work and studio.

In conjunction with the 2018 Queensland Art Teachers Association’s (QATA) Conference, Brisbane City Council will be celebrating art teachers with an exhibition in the city's laneways. The Outdoor Gallery, created in four lightbox locations, will convert the streets of Brisbane into an outdoor classroom. Larissa's ceramic work will be exhibited in Eagle Lane, Southbank.
