How can I use the History Page to aid my student’ s learning?
• Ask students to reflect on learning trends. Look for changes in your student’ s progress. The History Page provides a snapshot of a student’ s progress over the course of the school year. Do you notice any trends? Does your student score better on assessments when they also score well on work ethic and contribution? Do they perform better on assessments when they have a specific learning modality( e. g., Small Group Collaboration)? Once you’ ve identified trends in your student’ s performance, discuss these with them. Ask them to consider why they think these trends are evident.
• Ask informed questions about student’ s learning. The History Page gives parents or guardians a way to stay engaged in their student’ s education in a way often unavailable. If your student had a Virtual Instruction lesson today, ask them what they thought was helpful from the video or software they used. When the student has experienced a Virtual Instruction or a Live Investigation, ask your child about their learning via notes that they have taken on these lessons. If they had a Task or Small Group Collaboration, ask them what role they played in working with their fellow students. Ask students how what they are learning connects to their Stories.
• Help students with specific skills. Look for specific skills where a student has struggled. If a skill has been scored“ almost there” or“ room for growth”( indicated by the yellow or red circles), the student could benefit from additional support on this skill. Review these skills with the student. Encourage the student to take advantage of the Watch / Practice functionality for resources on this skill by clicking on the skill name.
• Ask your student to give their Task Demo. If the student has completed a Task, a single project they work on with the same teacher and group of students over six sessions, ask them about the demonstration that they presented to their peers. Have them give their presentation to you. If the Task Demo has not happened yet( the student is only on Task 5) then ask the student about the upcoming Task Demo.
