GRATNELLS AT BETT MEA

Earlier this year Gratnells cohosted a stand at BETT MEA with their local marketing partners EDX Education .

The stand presented a range of EDX maths manipulatives organised in Gratnells trays into individual activity themes for Early Years and KS1 maths . These ranged from simple sorting and selection to number sequences , number lines , simple angles and 10 frame exercises . All products were stored in individual Gratnells trays and presented in a Gratnells Callero Plus trolley as a turnkey solution for maths activities across a whole year of study .
The Gratnells trolley allows resources to be securely stored , while still being accessible to students , encouraging investigation and collaborative working . The wheeled trolley also allows sharing of resources between several classrooms , and the positioning of the materials in the centre of the classroom for activities , increasing focus and raising awareness .
Teachers visiting the stand commented on how colourful and attractive both the manipulatives and the trays were and thought these would be a wonderful and bright addition to any classroom . The housing of all the resources in one trolley was also
commented on as being good for resource management , as well as assisting lesson preparation .
Broadly , comments received from teachers and STEM coordinators could be grouped in the following areas :
They liked the design , the quality , the colours and the attractiveness .
Most agreed that such an attentiongrabbing product would interest the students and encourage them to participate , probably learning through play , whilst being fully supported with detailed lesson plans to ensure that learning outcomes were achieved .
The whole tray and trolley proposition was also explained as a system that could be used throughout the school , particularly in older years for STEM provision , housing a range of resources and also other kits already packed in Gratnells trays . This idea was liked by many STEM coordinators visiting the stand , who had also seen the Gratnells system on the stand next door , being used for LEGO MindStorm and Sam Labs kits for programming and coding .
