PUBLISHER’S MESSAGE “ Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world . ” HARRIET TUBMAN M I D D L E E A S T Teach Middle East Magazine ® EDITORIAL DIRECTOR Spring is my favourite season of the year. When I lived back home in England, I always looked forward to the first sign of spring, because it signalled an end to what sometimes were bitterly cold winters and it also brought with it, new life and renewed vibrancy. The flowers begin to bloom, trees begin to sprout new leaves. It is as if the earth, which was asleep in the winter, suddenly begin to come back to life. So too it is, with our lives, we often go through winters where things are cold, dark and hard, but the spring comes and with it comes new life, renewed hope and much joy. The winters, though long and hard, do not last forever. Unlike the United Kingdom, spring time in the Middle East signals the beginning of the hot season and those wonderful winter days where we could dine al fresco and enjoy a Friday afternoon barbeque are on their way out. The winter term can often be the hardest term in schools. It is the longest term and many educators find it the most difficult term of the year. The spring and summer terms are normally shorter and punctuated with lovely breaks. At this point in the term many educators are eagerly looking forward to their spring break. What plans do you have for your spring break? Whatever you do I hope you have a great time. March and April are among some of the busiest months for Educators regionally, as most of the year’s education events are concentrated in these two months. By the time you are reading this issue of the magazine, GESS Dubai 2019 would have taken place. The Middle East Maths Teachers Conference as well 06 | Mar - Arp 2019 | | as The Finnish Education Expo would have all been history. I hope you were able to attend all of these wonderful events but if you missed them, don’t worry, there are still a few good ones left on the calendar. BETT MEA will be taking place in Abu Dhabi on April 22- 23, 2019 and The Middle East School Leadership Conference will take place in Dubai on October 8-9, 2019.
