PUBLISHER’S MESSAGE “ Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength .” H There have also been quite a few changes in the education sector, chief of which is the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC), now becoming a government department and being renamed The Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK). The introduction of the Emirati School Model is another notable development. This has given rise to a change in the public school curriculum across the country. If you work in the government sector, I hope these changes have not been too difficult for you. Education continues to be a top government priority regionally and there is no let up in the investments being made in this very vital sector. The United Arab Emirates is focussed on fulfilling its Vision 2021 which includes the goal of being rated among the top 15 countries in The Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) and The Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA). This is an ambitious goal but steps are being taken to ensure that the country fulfils this goal. | | Teach Middle East Magazine ® Leisa Grace Wilson [email protected] ow has your school year been going?
