CONNECT. DEVELOP. EMPOWER.

“ Start strong, stay strong and finish strong, by always remembering why you are doing it in the first place.”- Ralph Marston
The recent spike in the temperature is a sure indication that we are close to the end of the school year and what a year it has been! The 2016-2017 academic year has been a very eventful and rewarding year for us at Teach Middle East Magazine. We started the year by announcing our name change from Teach UAE to Teach Middle East Magazine. This change was merely an acknowledgement of the thousands of educators who read the magazine from all across the Middle East.
Our November-December 2016 issue featured the wonderful staff at The English School-Kuwait. Throughout the school year, we had the pleasure of featuring some inspiring educators and shining the spotlight on what they do to make a difference in the lives of students. As the quote above states, we stayed strong by focussing on why we do what we do. Our mission is very clear, we work hard to connect, develop and empower educators across the Middle East and beyond, to be the best they can be, both inside and out of the classroom.
In March 2017, we launched our first event, The Middle East Maths Teachers Conference, which was a huge success. This event gave us a unique opportunity to interact with very inspiring educators. Look out for the second annual Middle East Maths Teachers Conference to be held on February 24, 2018, more details coming soon.
With temperatures rising, what better way to relax than with a copy of our May- June 2017 issue? It is filled with great ideas to help you finish the academic year on a good note, as well as useful suggestions on how to make the most of your summer break. If you are leaving the Middle East, check out our article on the ten things that you will miss about living in the region. For those of us who will just be clearing out our classrooms in readiness for the end of year, check out Seven Literacy Strategies to Abandon Now, as a part of the clear out.
If you have not made any plans for the summer as yet, maybe we could tempt you with a trip to Marrakech in Morocco. Travel Snapshots in the After the Bell section has a few highlights of what this great city has to offer.
While you are enjoying some well needed rest over the summer, we will be working on plans for the upcoming school year. Stay in touch with us online and via social media for updates, news and developments. Follow us on Twitter and Instagram @ teachmiddleeast. We are also on Facebook @ Teach Middle East Magazine.
Have a wonderful Summer! ____________________ CAROLYN LEE Editorial Director
