Hans Christian Andersen is an amazing storyteller
who is known for his great contributions to the literary
world. A fairy tale author, he was born in Odense,
Denmark on April 2, 1805. He created 168 fairy tales
for children including the classics The Princess and the
Pea, The Snow Queen and The Nightingale.

“Charlie” Chaplin was born on April 16,
1889 in London. Chaplin’s career spanned
75 years. He rose to fame in the silent era. An
extremely creative and talented performer,
Chaplin's classics include The Kid, The Gold
Rush, City Lights and Modern Times. In
1975, Queen Elizabeth II knighted him.

This is just one of the quotes from boxer Muhammad Ali,
considered to be one of the greatest heavy weights in the history
of the sport. On April 30, 1967, Boxer Muhammad Ali was
stripped of his world heavyweight boxing championship titles
after refusing to be inducted into the American military. He
had claimed religious exemption. Nicknamed “The Greatest”,
Ali was involved in several historic boxing matches, where he
regained titles that he had been stripped of.

Dr King is one of the most recognised civil rights leaders in
the black community. His work remains a fundamental part
of conversations relating to race, religion and equality today.
On April 4, 1968 - Civil Rights leader Rev. Dr Martin Luther
King Jr. was shot and killed by a sniper in Memphis, Tennessee.
Dr King had championed non-violent resistance to end racial
oppression and had been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in
1964. In 1986, Congress established the third Monday in
January as a national holiday in his honour.
